Design Dilemma Flooring Basements

Basement Carpet : To Pattern or not?

Wondering if anyone can relate their happy or not so much, experience of choosing a bolder pattern versus a lighter patter for carpeting. Background : Recarpeting the whole of our basement including a media room, 3 bedrooms, large basement foyer and stair runner. Indecision because we like the curvy pattern but having a hard time visualizing it over about 1500 sq ft. Not worried about colour for now, just input on pattern. TIA for any input / experience.

I’d pick the top photo...That much area, broken up with walls and furniture and shadows, and nearly all horizontal, it’ll fade visually into a nice subtle texture.

It's been about 3 or 4 years ago, so they may have changed something by now, but we had the TOP of the line Karastan carpet with a similar texture to your 1st photo. The wear in front of two chairs and a sofa after less than 2 years was completely unacceptable. Very disappointing! Looked like it had been there 20 years.
