There is no standard dimension. The PB could offer the homeowner different sizes. Tiles and the sizes used, may drive the overall width to have full tiles in the spillway. A piece of natural can work well. We use that mostly.

We don't set spas at pool level. It looks much nicer raised 18"with a nice water fall.

Plus, it adds additional seating.

A taller height in the spillway, will create a small spill above the pool water level. Drawback is water level in the spa is slightly higher and may overflow when there are multiple users.

Yes, this is a picture of our pool. That was precisely my thought, I didn’t think spas were built at pool level, how else would you get the waterfall effect. We told our general contractor who subcontracted with the PB we’re not happy. Is there a way to easily correct this?

Lots of pools are built this way. Years ago-like 35+, I remember Sylvan Pools, before they teamed with Anthony Pools, gave the owners a plexiglass stop to fit in the spillway for separation. Of course, those items always got lost or broken.

Raising the spillway by removing the tile carefully and set a piece of natural stone.

A piece of Travertine stone may do the trick. 3/4" thick piece may work.There are lots of color choices to compliment your existing materials.
