Hi there! I am an interior designer in Canada. Here are some recommendations.

I would change the paint colour on the walls.

I would paint the stairs and railings.

I would bring some greens (like plants) into this space and remove some items. You need to leave this space a little more open and airy. It currently looks to bulky.

I have some more suggestions but want to hear your thoughts with these ones first.

I think you need some variation of size in this space. The two tier plant holder does not fit in the space. It looks like it’s just being stored in there. Is there a need for a lamp there? Do you need storage there?

Variation of size will give you depth without the bulkiness of too many items. Let me see if I can pull

Smaller scale items for the wall like art work. And adding some items to the table or console

Wood in this space and it’s making the space feel heavy. Perhaps go with a lighter brighter color

Your paint color, floors, and stairs are beautiful and classic! Are you planning to add any rugs? I would remove the plant stand and possibly update the lamp.

I wanted to add a couple more photos for reference. There is a large second story window that allows for more light in the daytime. I like the concept of lighter and airier items. Will definitely remove the plant stand :) thank you all !
