Are you committed to the toilet room? I didn't vote because I don't like them and all your plans include one.

I don't like option 1 because both windows are in the separate shower toilet area. But I suppose the pony walls would help with that. But the shower is kind of small. Option 3 puts the toilet in a windowless room, which is okay, I guess, but I like natural light when possible. So, that leaves option 2. Both areas have a window and the shower is bigger. For these reasons, of the 3 choices, I would pick #2.

I vote for 1B since the pony wall will allow natural light from that window.

@Carrie B, we're open to not having a separate toilet room. Concept 1B below shows a pony wall instead of a separate room. Any other ideas?

@Amy Lynn, with Concept 3 we would use frosted glass for the pocket door to allow some natural light. Since you mention it, I had another idea: we could add a transom light at the top of the wall to the shower. That's really only if Concept 3 is the best...

I like concept 3. I actually like a quick rinse after a bath and 3 provides the easiest route :)

My other thought on option 3 is, could the shower head be moved to the wall that separates the toilet area? This way, a glass panel could be put between the tub and shower instead of a wall. This would open things up and allow the light from the window to be shared with the whole space.

I like the new version of #3. I was thinking the exact same thing. I had also wanted to move the shower head, as you did, largely because it will keep spray and moisture from getting into the window.

Also, the AHU space concerns me. It has my attention because the different versions have different-size AHU spots. I would recommending double checking the specs on the AHU, including all the ducting and all the space that's required to be around it BEFORE you get much further on a bathroom plan.

@tangerinedoor You're right! The likely AHU footprint is 21x21 (or possibly 17x21) with zero clearance requirement on the sides and back, according to the manufacturer. It needs working space of 24" in front when the door is open. But I'll need to contact the HVAC contractor to check about any local building codes, since they may require more space.

Hi Jonathan B, if a toilet room is not a must-have feature, I suggest the following design. The toilet is out of the view. You get a large shower without shortening the vanity size. Hope this helps!

Wow, great idea @Ying Wang! It didn't even occur to me to try this! Love it. The toilet has lots of light now.

I like this modification if you don't want to have a separate toilet. I like that you gain back a longer vanity. I believe you could still move the shower head to the other wall and use glass between tub and shower with this layout.
