I just saw a GREAT youtube video on an emergency kit for your car. This would be especially good at the moment.
from this I took:
have Phone charger,

duct tape

some rope
flash light
knife and or scissors
blanket

mylar/emergency/camping blanket
emergency poncho
kitty litter
paper and pen
bottled water (leave only in the car, if your car lives in a garage!)
candy or breakfast bars

All this should fit in a small plastic bin... a small duffel bag, heck, maybe a shoe box or two. Several of these items would have been helpful to the people that were stuck in cars in long lines behind and in accidents earlier this week.
Nope, I am not going anywhere... but it sure sounds like a GREAT emergency option.
At the moment in my bag (in my car) is a hat, warm jacket, some masks, a bandana and of course, spoons for going to BRAUMS with my friend to share a carton of ice cream. Yes, this bag is ALWAYS in my car.

I also have an ice scraper and some YAKTRAX in my car. I plan to upgrade my emergency bag... I think, I will put the above listed items in a plastic bin, and add it to my trunk.

Have y'all seen the candle/terracotta pot warmer? Supposedly warms an entire room.

I did not have a lot of luck keeping a tent or camper warm with clay flower pots and candles, I did however use a burner in the stove with a pot that worked good, but you really have to be careful and have plenty vents to protect your self. I had a pop-up camper with a vent over the stove, plus many, many air holes in the old camper.

You can get insulated reflective blankets that is said to be good. I bought a pack of mylar camping blankets, I never used them, I gave them to my grand daughter, she is not dead yet, I dont know if the blankets saved her life or not.

Another good thing to add to the vehicles are jumper cables. We always carried snow-type boots, gloves or mittens, heavy coats in our vehicles. The other suggestions are great. Thanks for posting, Moni.

I use to love to hunt deer, and always had trouble staying warm, especially up in a tree. I would eat peanuts and peanut M&M's, I thought the high calories and caffeine helped to keep me warm, plus I liked peanut M&M's.

In my hunting rig, I kept what I called a grub box. I Had fire starting material, food, string and rope, 12 volt sleeping bag warmers ( home made) and about anything I needed to spent the night, or a few nights. I even had a bed that would lower from over head. I turned that small 4 wheel drive into a small RV. I really had a lot of fun in that little rig.

Nancy to many newer cars with all the electronics... I wouldn't jump. No, I no longer carry jumper cables.

I really dont like jumping cars either, I do, but am very careful.

I can remember when jumper cables were not needed, but it was handy to have a chain, but those days are long gone.

I bought a 2 pack of flashlights for $20. They are solar powered and they have a usb so you can charge your phone. I am going to get another pack so I have one in each vehicle and at home
