Comments (13)ok, i would like you to have a more sophisticated shower curtain or leave the shower doors in place. How about stick on window film-have cheap on line or at big box stores, can do window and shower with these this one is clearstained glass goes great with the beige and you can have a black or brown accent wall more sophisticated a couple of examples of stickers you can use on the shower door and the glass in front of the toilet. Peel and stick wall papers, all three are really in style right now, the second more for the darkness. Ok, so what we have is hopefully update the cabinet, via paint or darker stain and hardware that matches sink hardware. an accent wall here with peel and stick tile, and/or peel and stick wall paper or a dark paint. A new framed mirror. Update light fixture over sink with simpler shades, no need for new fixture, just less frilly glass can get everywhere for cheap. Update door handle and maybe darker stain on door. Update or paint over head fixture. possible window film or sticker on shower door. window film on window with glass shelves and baskets for storage. look at floating floor if insist on new floor and possible under heating-really is pretty cheap. Would rather see you spend money on laminate floating floor for bedroom and get rid of carpet. make sure floor is wood style. Ok, done for now, write if you have questions....See MoreNeed 20-21" seat height dining chair

(scroll down, it says adjusts between 18-24") http://www.crateandbarrel.com/turner-gunmetal-adjustable-backless-counter-stool/s369985 otherwise, rethink table. or shorten table. or have custom chairs made. or find a chair style you can add casters to....See MoreMixing wood cabinets with white cabinets?
Comments (9)perfectly fine to combine the two. you are looking at expensive cabinets though! these are full inlay with custom stained walnut island and lowers. I don't know what your budge is, but these are no cheap date! (cabs alone were prob 40K. Walnut is $6-$10 a BOARD FOOT! if you used a white oak, and did a full overlay (instead of inset) it would be cheaper. (these were done by an amish community) I do agree you get new cabs. (or have those refaced if you're keeping the same layout. Stained maple lowers. BTW, another poster on here. I suggested adding boxes and getting hers painted. here's the before, during and after. you could easily do this with yours, but get new doors and drawer fronts. have them painted. if you want a wood island, then get one made from white oak. I had my cabs refaced (it wasn't that much more. the painters got all new solid maple doors and drawers and painted them w/my base cabinets. I had drawers modified, a vent hood and all the old trim removed. These cabs were custom built 15 years, so they were in excellent shape and built to this kitchen. the doors were beat up though and needed to be refinished. since I was opting for paint, refacing was a no brainer. AND, I got the45 degree or beveled edges of this shaker style. much easier to clean the inside panels. (BTW, I did my own walnut on the hood, window and shelves)...See MoreStreet tree help!
Comments (18)ashpip- based on ypur prior experience with a city request, I’d put this tree project on the back burner! Certainly during these awful political & virus times, many things are at the bottom of the priority list. Sounds like you were told what you are supposed to do when you got your required permit but it seems unlikely city staff will actually follow up to check it’s done. And, if they ever do, you’re still deciding because of poor choices of course! That’s what I’d do in you situation. And, from your picture of existing trees, it looks like the next house down doesn’t have a tree in their boulevard space between sidewalk & street either. Embothrium, my Paper Barks were in both my front & back yards in my Seattle area home. I couldn’t find a spot for one in my new home here in Vancouver but I was delighted to find so many lining both residential & city streets here. None of them look very old based on size of my my oldest one in my yard. Haven’t noted any vandalism to those trees. That redevelopment you describe is sadly going on in many cities. The very small lot sizes for many new home Developments close in to cities as well. Fortunately I’ve noted the trend for including parks & play areas built within many of those kinds of developments which means some trees & lots of native plants!...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
