Fireplace Finish - HELP!

last modified: 5 years ago

We tore off our old fireplace (1st photo- previous owner) and came up with an updated look (brick and shiplap).

The next 2 photos are In the middle of construction. We also replaced wooden railing for steps and catwalk with a custom made metal rail. Also, we took out a wall from kitchen to living room and placed a 9 ft sliding door from the kitchen to the back deck (which originally had a door and double window that we took out). We will eventually paint the shiplap a soft white - Maybe SW Alabaster or SW Aesthetic White. The wall color is SW Anew Grey.

We also stripped/ re-finished the floors in a matte natural look to brighten up the space and take out any red/orange tone. This view is from the catwalk looking down on the fireplace.

Overall look of our current situation with hangings ready for a large hand hewn beam mantle (9x9 inches - height and depth) across the whole length of the fireplace.

Below is a look we like for the brick. What color of grout? should the finish on grout be imperfect? is this finish a lime wash? mortar finish? 2 different types of paint? chalk paint? Does anyone know the steps to get a similar finish to the photos below? Thank you in advance for weighing in on this situation.
