I really love the second table color. And look. But!! Without the geometric pattern lol.

I have maple floors with a simple oval (with leaves) walnut dining set. I like the contrast. I also vote for a plain top for a table you will keep forever. It will be easier to decorate and accessorize without worrying it is too "busy."

I love option 2. 10yrs from now if that table gets regular use it will need to be refinished anyway. Do what you want now. Love what you want now.

Appreciate the feedback. I also could have added that because the way the top is attached to the legs, I’m able to flip it over if I get sick of the pattern after some time. So really I’m just asking about color.

Neither- you should match the island.

The second one is my vote. Just the right amount of contrast.

if the base/legs are black/ dark I would go with the lighter color and would consider if you chose a pattern have you had one similar before that you have liked for years?

I would go with a darker wood. Either a natural one like walnut or else a stained wood of another variety. Hickory In natural would be nice.

These are my natural mixed wood floors. Some of it is maple. I’m not sure if this is helpful or not, but I thought you might like to see what different woods next to maple look like.
