Emtek vs Baldwin vs Schlage

We are building a custom home. Which brand of door entry sets, knobs, deadbolts is recommended? I am willing to spend more if more durable.

We selected Emtek for our new build. They will be installed on Tuesday. I believe the quality and design to be very good.

Emtek or Baldwin are the higher end products with Schlage not far behind.

I’ve used Emtek, and plan to use them again in my current project. The Emtek products I have are holding up beautifully.
I’m not impressed with Schlage; I don’t like the designs as much at all, and the quality does not seem as good to me.
Baldwin looks very solid and well-made; I’ve seen them in stores, but I have not used their products.

We put Emtek in three houses and the product has held up very well.

Our front door knob is Emtek but internal doors have Baldwin knobs. My purchases were more focused on design.

We have Emtek levers on all exterior doors. The mechanics are great, but the oil-rubbed bronze finish is not holding up (about 7 years old). I've been told that a different finish would have been better.

Oil-rubbed bronze is a living finish. It is meant to show wear.

All those 3 brands are good quality.

@Beege thanks, I learned that from someone, I think a Houzzer, shortly after I posted those pictures. It actually makes me like the hardware more now because I like living finishes. I just wish the designer had told me before we installed them.

For what it's worth, we're in the middle of a remodel and are replacing all our 1980s shiny brass interior door handles with black Emtek knobs. Emtek has performed well for us.

Put 20+ Emtek levers on our interior doors and was pretty disappointed. Some broke, privacy lovking pins fall out, finish wore ugly after a couple years, mounting plates dont grip well and tightening only makes the lever bind up. Trying Baldwin at the next house

Jordanbrennan728. Thanks for your review on Emtek. I think I will consider Baldwin.

Have double front entry doors and put Baldwin satin finish silver lock & handle sets on each (only one side has the entry lock). Those sets had a lifetime guarantee. I saved the box from one set and maybe 4-5 years later noticed that the bottom part of one handle appeared to be turning yellow - possibly brass base beginning to show through. I contacted Baldwin via email and included a photo and they sent me an entire new boxed handle set for no charge. These were not inexpensive sets so that really impressed me about Baldwin business practices.

Emtek.....middle of the road, Baldwin.....top of the line, Schlage......builder grade (lower end)
