I would remove the wooden shutters. How tall are your ceilings? Can you take a picture that shows the whole room and ceiling?

Here’s an additional picture. The light during the day isn’t an issue. We get direct sun through the window, so the shutters help. It’s at night that we really need the additional light.

A good electrician could fish some wire for a sconce on each side wall. You'd never block your own light when standing at the sink either.

^^ yes that si a great answer. alternatively, have him drag the wire all the way up have power come off the wall and mount track or rail to the ceiling. or the wall above the window

There are even electrical outlets on each side from which you could extend cable to the sconces.
