V. Monstera; rot?

Hi All,

I received a large V. Monstera clipping with extensive roots, which I potted last week (this is different from the Monstera detailed in my previous post!)

It seems to have taken to the soil nicely, growth is clear on the node as shown in the image below. The leaf also appears nice and healthy.

I'm a little concerned about potential rot on part of clipping that protruding from the soil. Based on the image below, do you think this is rot? If so, should I be clipping it beneath the soil to prevent it spreading further?

That looks dead, but I'd tug on it gently to see if it lifts away by itself. Keep trying every now and again to see if it does.

While you're going to get differing opinions on this, I'm sure, in my experience, single stems that don't take don't usually harm those that are fine. I don't lift the plant or disturb the newly-transplanted parts to remove them, and don't remember ever having problems.

Certainly you can feel free to clip it off at the soil surface to improve the visual.

Amazing, just pulled on it lightly and it slid out of the soil with ease.
