Spring Fling 2021 (Official)

It’s official!

Spring Fling will be 11:00-2:00, April 24th at South Dam, Lake Thunderbird State Park.

We have the pavilion from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, so basically the hours above are highly flexible!

I can provide better directions when it gets a little closer, but this location is much easier to find than the last one! It’s basically turn north at the South Dam sign on highway 9. That road leads straight to the pavilion parking lot located about a 1/4 mile off the highway.

Excited to come! I need this :)

Questions....is this a bring-your-own-lunch affair, or are we pot-lucking it?

Door prizes - we'll bring those, right? Some might also want to bring chairs, or do you think the benches around the tables are enough?

We hadn’t discussed door prizes, but I don’t see why not?

Pot Luck and or firing up the grill with option to bring your own lunch, seems to be the general concensus.

I'm coming. I think that's a given, but just in case! ....and the request has already been put in for cornbread salad!

    Door prizes: check

I‘m good for a bucket of chocolate chip cookies. I can wrap them individually if we need to.

Ron says "after the wedding what are we doing with the garden". I said we're going to spring fling and getting plants to put in the garden. See you there!

I’ll add this here and in the FB group. If there’s enough interest, I would be willing to do a fish fry. I have plenty of fish and the equipment to crank out a lot of food in a short time!

Count me & Ken in and YES to the fish fry! Lisa's cornbread salad will go well! hehe Not going to have a lot to share this year but I can bring a really good cauliflower "potatoe" salad!!!! Still have the door prize tickets and basket too! We'll bring those. See you all there!!!

Bruce, have you been in contact with Dawns family, in case they want to attend?

I haven't had good fish in years. Down side to marrying a yankee boy, they don't know what good food is.

Hi All. I am around. I think I read someone say something about Tom smoking meat. We are good with that but probably don't need to do that if we're having a fish fry.

I'll bring deviled eggs (The hens are laying machines right now)...and something else too.

Work is very busy right now. Lots of late days. Bringing back "normal" things while keeping the things that we started during Covid makes for twice the work. I'm ready for summer. Things will calm down then at work.

    Can't wait to see everyone.

Wow! People can stay all day! LOL. Nothing I love more than deviled eggs, HJ. Garry, too. I am so discombobulated, I have no idea what I can or will bring, other than promised plants and us. Sharon, I'm so glad you'll be there! And all the rest of you, too, of course.

Jen I am Yankee and we had fish fried every Friday. He must have been from different area lol

Fish!! All daaaayyyy!! I think I'll bring a coleslaw then - just sounds good to me. I'll bring some sort of door prize. No plants this year at all, but I might take a couple off your (collective) hands, lol.

Just a few weeks! Yay for that!

Rebecca, I meant to respond to your question when I first saw it!

I haven’t heard from Chris, but Tim indicated he’s still wanting to attend.

Reading through all the dishes you guys are planning on bringing! They all sound great!

Besides fish, I’ll also bring hushpuppies and French fries.

I‘m not sure if anyone has any food allergies, but. I guess I should mention I use peanut oil for frying?

Another aside, my daughter, Katie, will be coming this time, too! It's been a few years since she's been able to come, but I'm glad to have her! 😁

Awesome - I will be there! I'll have pepper and tomato plants. Don't know what is still needed food-wise. How does tabouli sound?

I love tabouli. . . have been meaning to make it for a while, since I have a glut of parsley right now. In terms of plants I need or want--I'd have to say NOTHING! BUT. I also realize that if anyone offers up something, it might be THE very thing I DO want. LOL.

Nancy, you’re taking home a zebrina mauritania, since you got me started with the original zebrina.

Excellent, Rebecca, THANK YOU, since many of mine have kind of vanished this year. And something I noticed, the colors on mine sort of mutated over the past 3-4 years. So I had some that were white with the pink highlights, and some that were mostly purple. Whatever! lol. And I have two volunteers over in the compost heap near the raised beds--one is enormous--I'm not sure--maybe it's a regular hollyhock. Time will tell.

I think only one of mine survived the freeze, Nancy. And I see what you mean on mutating colors. Mine did the same thing.

I am going to try really hard to post list of what I have. I have potted up over 300 seedlings for swap and sale. Two weeks. I hope everything looks good.

Need to go through all of mine again. Sadly a rottweiler wandered through our yard & as I tried to give him a drink he trampled a few of my flats. I packed everything back in best I could but we'll see what the full damage is tomorrow.

    Does anyone have honeysuckle

    Old wrong thread

    Does anyone need directions?

If you are using Apple Maps or google maps, simply search South Dam, Lake Thunderbird State Park.

I can also give turn by turn directions if needed?

I would appreciate something a little more precise, especially where our site is.

Hello my gardener friends! I am soo looking forward to tomorrow. Tabouli is still getting prepped for tomorrow. How is the plates, cups and cutlery situation? Should I bring some?

See you all tomorrow - yay!

All--Regina--I have a bunch of plates, silverware, napkins I'll throw in. The least I can do.
