It is too much brown (in my opinion). I like the coffee table, but I think it combines with the sofa to create a sea of brown. Change the pillows, paint and coffee table, and it will help a ton. A dark grayish-blue might be nice for the walls. Some graphic pillows with off-white backgrounds could work too. This paint color works for a bachelor pad--don't forget art on the walls!

Get rid of the giant coffee table that blocks the way, and buy 2 round ottomans in a color you like, but not brown. I would make them round because the room is very rectangular, as is the sofa, and it will give the eye some relief. Cover the pillows or buy new ones in colors that go with the ottomans. Don't rush out for art; just keep your eye out for something you like, but keep it modern. No jumping bass.

Also, some reed blinds, or wood blinds. You might remove the top of the coffee table and use it for artwork. Splash some color on it and hang it behind the couch. Don't let too much wood show through-just a little.

keep the coffee table it is very practical. A good rug, some art and some cushions will give the room some oomph.

Looks like there is some red/burgundy in those pillows, so it must be a color that's ok with him. I'd find a rug with a light neutral background, cognac, burgundy and some green. Light neutral grommet drapes in a linen type finish. A few different pillows in neutral/burgundy. One big art piece over the fireplace. The coffee table is a perfect man choice! Maybe you can persuade him to put a hardy indoor plant in a low, colored ceramic dish for the middle of the coffee table.

A palette of blue walls, rug and pillows will complement the sectional. It looks more like a camel or a burnt caramel colour on my screen.

This colour looks great with black and blue. I would replace the coffee table with a modern low 2pac black table and use black for any side tables shelves,TV stand and art work frames.The wall would look great in blue both the blues shown above, or leave them as they are.A rug on the floor with the blues and blacks would tie the room together and use some cushions on the sofa in these colours also but use some patterns and maybe a throw or cushion in a completly different colour to make the room pop! as nolam has shown in the picture, with the yellow colour, but just one cushion and a touch of the same colour in the art work not too much !! and maybe even lamps in this colour. For a modern minimal look I would hang a black roller blind on the window to emphasize the straight lines as in the tables and artwork as the soft lines of the sofa will balance this.good luck! luck you, have fun!
