Are these low voltage surface mounted lights? What are the dimensions of the lights? What are the pros/cons of surface mounted vs. recessed lights for patio steps? Is one more durable, waterproof, easy to maintain, aesthetically pleasing than the other? Does one give off more light than the other? How far do surface mounted lights protrude from the step wall surface? I have a 2" bullnose on my travertine step.

The lights that are pictured will be custom 12V DC outdoor weather resistant flex strips. These are surface mounted strips that can be customized in lengths in 4" increments up to 300".
