So glad you are OK! As you know, we were both very concerned about this system. Prayers were certainly going up for your safety as it intensified over your area. Thankful for your safety.

Glad to know you are OK, kay! We had 60-mile-an-hour winds here, but no tornados in this part of Nashville. A lot of trees and power lines are down just blocks away, but everything here is OK, and I'm glad we didn't lose power.

So glad you are ok. The weather forecast was for bad winds here last night. Bob went out to secure anything that might blow around, but it ended up as just rain here.

We had a couple of wide long track tornados that started on one side of the state at Mississippi and tore paths across the state to exit into Georgia. It was a mess.

I was busy with other things yesterday and this morning, so didn't have a clue about the weather situation back east until I read the headlines this afternoon. We are all of us truly blessed as Oklahoma usually is in the path of these things too. I'm happy all my friends are safe. How many people have basements they can flee to I wonder? I'm like Kay. Our hall is about the only place we can go. Not comforting at all..............Maryl

Maryl, that is a good question. We have a cellar that we could go down and get into and have done so before, but then you risk the house falling on you. One couple squeezed into a small broom closet with shelves. That little closet was all that was left standing in their house.

I remember when I visited my parents from out of state back in the early 70's they had just had a tornado hit a subdivision about 1/2 mile down the way. This was an upscale neighborhood and to see the large sturdy brick homes leveled was quite the eye opener. The only thing left standing in many of them was the fireplace. The soil is just too much heavy clay to put basements in around here. As a friend of mine once told me: " just get right with the Lord and pray for the best". Wow, I always thought you folks that are in locations prone to lots of tornados had dug cellars like in the Wizard of Oz . I find it so disconcerting that you don't even have basements. We are in a very heavy clay location ( clay around here is known as Appin Blue Clay ) which is very very very solid clay about a foot and a half down from ground level , yet all the homes here have basements . Cost more to build a home but at least it might offer some protection as we too get tornados to ( we are in what is known here as Tornado Alley. ) Today we are getting wind gusts up from the south of 90 km or 55 miles per hour. That's plenty thank you very much ! So glad we got that huge 90 ft dead Ash tree down a couple of weekends ago . It made a mess in my gardens but at least it won't make a mess of my house now .

Heather, we’ve had the same wind here the past two days. My 10 pound shih tzu had all she could handle just standing in the yard yesterday. My lawn chairs were all over the back yard.
