Small kitchen remodel possible

Hi

Wife wants to replace the vent hood with something like this -- https://www.homedepot.com/p/ZLINE-Kitchen-and-Bath-ZLINE-42-Designer-Series-Copper-Finish-Wall-Range-Hood-8632C-42-8632C-42/310741263?

We would have to replace the kitchen cabinet handles with brushed gold (no copper option)

We have discussed repainting the cabinets to Shoji White (upper -- SW 7042), lower cabinets to stay as same or lowers and island to Gauntlet Grey (SW 70196) and walls to Greek Villa (SW 7551) or Snowbound (SW 7004). Wife does not want to be without access to the kitchen...

I think the bronze would work better if we repainted the cabinets, but how does Cooper vent hood work with our kitchen as currently setup?

Not a professional here - but wondering what the motivation is for swapping the hood? Is the existing one just too loud? This looks like a lot of dominoes will have to fall to work out. I don't think the copper hood would look right with what you have, and all of the painting will make this far more than a "small kitchen remodel". I don't envision a copper hood, brushed gold hardware and stainless appliances blending well. If the hood is not an exact match for dimensions, do you have enough tile to fill in the gaps on that wall?

@L.D. Johnson : I thought we were doing a stainless steel hood originally, today she said she like copper instead... I think stainless steel would work much better. Do have back up tile and anticipate tile and dry wall repair in order to change out the hood. As for motivation, probably too much HGTV and being stuck inside for the past year, but she has never liked the venthood since we moved in

@User : Yes. We've discussed this, its kept us from moving forward in the past ..

I think I’d suggest consulting with a good Kitchen Designer before planning anything at all. You need an unbiased and knowledgeable referee. Boredom really isn’t enough motivation to spend 15K. If it is, then go buy a motorcycle! That’s a big injection of excitement.

You noted no copper pulls, is there a reason for that or just didn't find any you liked?

Agree about the unbiased third party opinion. Also noting that it's unlikely the existing crown molding is going to work with what you have, so crown and ceiling repair/paint should come into consideration. Here is a VERY rough mock up of the copper hood in your kitchen; most likely the proportions are off.

Most of the darker kitchens I’ve seen have the hardware color you have. There are many different finishes and designs you can go with. But I think that with the rest of your hardware - I see the sink. And even appliances. I’d stay in this range. You can sample and try different. Obviously. But I personally think chrome works best here.
If you paint and remodel you can change. But with the hood. The paint. The cabinets. The hardware. It sounds like a lot. And I’m for mixing finishes. Granted if this is your forever home and this isn’t the style you love. Change it. But I think it looks very nice and some upgrades can change a lot. ( I’m thinking a totally different style shiny chrome latch style pull.... )

    Maybe upgrade the bathroom?

How about a glass and stainless hood to lighten up the look of the kitchen and to make it more airy? It's a lot less work and money than any of the other things you are talking about. That alone would make a major difference in how your kitchen feels.

Or, order a few new frosted glass doors for some of the uppers, and put in a standard stainless chimney range hood. Again, a lighter and more open look.

@julieste I think that would look great. Its what I imagined when we discussed making changes, copper vent hood threw me for a loop...

We might recommend trying to stay with a stainless steel hood since it looks like your appliances/hardware are already in this category. Below is a design of ours. Notice the appliances and hardware used.
