Philodendron Selloum Yellow Leaves/Infestation

I’m pretty sure this is a philodendron selloum but I received it from someone who didn’t know what it is. I repotted the plant 1 week ago from the date of this post. I didnt realize the pot was WAY too big when I did that. Several leaves already fell off since then. The rest that are photoed were still green and now the rest are yellowing fast. I noticed some gnats in the soil now too. I don’t know if I stressed the plant out when I repotted it or if the roots are staying too wet in this huge pot. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Im nervous if I repot it again that will stress it even more but then again if I do nothing Im nervous the rest of the plant will die. (Also I did spray neem oil on it 2 days ago but that doesnt seem to have helped).

looks like you buried the crown of the plant...

i wish peeps would ask first. before they spray .. now i cant tell if its a potting stress ... harm from the spray .. or what ... but thats hindsight right now ....

do you have more media to get it higher in the soil ...

fungus gnats in the soil is possible ... but if you bought new media that would not seem realistic.. unless you left all the old media on it??? .... and spraying oil on the leaves would do nothing against gnats in the media ..

i sterilize all new media.. before use... to avoid this type of issue ...

if it were mine.. id moisten and sterilize 1.5 times the volume of the pot .. bare root the plant ... then repot the thing at the proper depth for that pot.. to the same level it was previously potted .. in other words .... only the underground stuff is underground.. its usually white as proof of such ...

then water it in.. and probably not water it again for a month or so.. until the media started drying at depth ...

and i am presuming that pot has drain holes ...

Thank you! I did mix the old and new soil (big mistake) and sprayed the soil with the oil thinking that would work. Caring for plants is completely brand new to me and I realize now I received some inaccurate information before. I will bare root the plant and sterilize my soil before repotting to try to get it back on track.
