Where are you located and how much did you plant?

I'm located at staten island and I think I planted about 5 to 7 pieces of garlic

By "pieces" do you mean individual cloves? Are they in the sun? Do you water them?

Yes I water them when dry, they recieve half sun which means 6 to 8 hours to sun. I don't think they need sun since they're still underground and growing.

Update: My mom said she could not find any garlic in the area I planted.

I didn't see it but I did a few days back. I tried mixing up the soil. But yes it looks like it's been mixed but I don't think there's any holes or that it's dug up

Likely dug up by an animal. If you replant, protect it with a wire cage till it's growing.
