Yes, we are canna-afficianados, L Clark! I put my cannas out on the canna trolley on April 1 and have been rolling them out and back in again based on the overnight temps. I usually aim for seeing overnight temps 50 degrees before I leave them out overnight. Our day times are still so unpredictable (we got snow last week) that it's easier for me to leave them on the trolley until June 1.

I will post a picture in a few of my progress. Not much at this point.

I understand 40 is not ideal, but will they be harmed? I am brand new to any sort of tropical plant.

To me, the word aficionado just means that you appreciate them. And yes, they remind me of tropical places I've visited throughout the years. For some reason, I always try to add more tropical plants to my summer outdoors.

Here is my trolley. There are only two showing signs of life: Cleopatra (she is the over-achiever this year) and a red variety that I no longer have the name. The rest have yet to emerge and they have been out since April 1.

I'm a little worried that some may have gotten too cold over the winter in the garage. We had a really cold spell this winter. But it's too early to give up on them.

These have been out overnight for the past few nights. But I'm still not quite ready to move them to the uncovered porch. Just because if we do get snow, it will be harder for me to protect them. when they are on the trolley, it's easy to just roll back into the garage.
