Here are photos. Wall above sink could use a tile accent. Lots of paint color swatches but need to select backsplash first.

Standard advice that I've read here is to have your cabinets in their "final" finish before you pick a backsplash. In my experience, this is excellent advice, because your color swatches will look different on the wall under the cabinets (especially with undercabinet lights, which are great) than when painted on all your uppers. You could make an initial choice of backsplash, but be prepared to reassess after your cabinets are painted.

That makes sense to me, too. However, the company painting our cabinets (and has excellent references) wants countertop and backsplash in place before he does his work. I've never heard of that approach before but that's what he's saying. It's my understanding that the cabinet paint (glossy) is usually lighter when applied than the swatch and flat paint sample. He has said he will do a door sample before he does the whole cabinet.
