Hi,

At the beginning of December I attempted to propagate my Monstera plant. I cut away two leaves at a join and put it in water. I know very little about what I'm doing so I hope to god It was a node!

Fast Forward to April and the cutting has done nothing!

The leaves themselves are fine and healthy but no roots have formed.

The bottom of the internode turned black after a while so I cut the black away but this didn't help and it has gone black again.

The black rings on the cutting are from aerial it grew before I cut it. These marked me paint at home when they grew onto the wall. I really hope this hasn't 'killed' its potential!

One leaf contains its new leaf but this has never grown either.

The parent plant has started to grow where it was cut though!

I understand a NEW plant can't form form a cutting without a node but i'm not sure if it is a node or not?

Info from the internet says that a node is like a 'plant pimple' which this doesn't have. Other descriptions say it is where two leaves join which would be correct!

I'm thinking of cutting away the blackened/calloused base, dipping it in rooting powder and planting it and hoping for the best!

I would hope you lovely people can confirm this is a node and what you suggest to help it grow.
