Crazy Sinningia tubers

Some Sinningia species and their hybrids grow large tubers. We all like different things - and there is a group of people that likes tuber, caudex, thick stem on their plants. I do not think Sinningias grow especially symmetrical tubers, but if you put them in a small pot and neglect to repot them on time - they crack the pot and pour out to the mat and continue... I grow practically everything on wicks and mats - so they continue to live and prosper. I got to sort the trays that were neglected... for years. That what I found.

Hi Irina! Well,,,,I don't have any sininngia of that size but remember when you encouraged me to keep growing my teensy eensy weensy S. White Sprite and S. pusilla???? Well, I have full pots now and they keep on blooming!!!!! Here is my S. Pusilla that started from one little teeny cluster no bigger than an inch!!! Rosie

And that is not all!!!!! You know how they sell the miniature cupcakes in a plastic sectioned container with a lid that holds 12 little cupcakes? Well each little container is filled with S. pusilla. I CAN'T throw them out now,,,,,,can I????? lol Had covid not been an issue I could have sold them at our AV sale in Ann Arbor,,,but,,,,,,we all know how that turned out! So they keep growing like the energizer bunny! lol Rosie

Yeah... shipping these minis is close to impossible unless you get the tubers out and ship them. They are the size of the half pea...

Update on my mini Sininngia pusilla......I tore it apart and this is what I have!!!!! Peeking under the leaves you see the tubers

After I tediously pulled everything apart I planted as many as I could. I will have to find a spot to plant the leftovers.

Do you see the two round tubers??? They are connected by that line of stem between them and there are no roots on them just yet. Sooooo,,,,,that means that they make tubers upon tubers and ALSO they spread by "runners" as you can see!!!!!
