Landscape Design Perennials Garden

Hello!

I love idea of having jasmine in my yard. But wondering how tall it grows, and whether it's difficult to control?

I have an area like the pic below. I would like to add trellises to the back wall and have the jasmine grow up that small wall and stop it where the porch starts. I figured I'd just prune regularly when it gets that tall. Is that doable, or would it take over that entire front area? Or is it manageable - and would allow me to still have some other plants in that area? thank you!

Where are you located and what kind of jasmine are you considering?

I'm in Toronto, zone 5/6. I'm thinking about Madison Jasmine, as I read it tolerates full shade, and it's a pretty shady area! thanks!

Won't survive in your climate over winter. It is a zone 7 plant at best.

You could grow it as an annual but I wouldn't expect much from it.

If you are located right in Toronto, you are in Zone 7a (areas outside of Toronto in SW Ontario are zone 5 and 6 though). Jasmine officinale *might* survive the winter in zone 7a. Jasmine nudiflorum (winter jasmine) is slightly more hardy, down to Zone 6, but has none of the typical jasmine fragrance.
