Update needed for a guest bedroom

We'll be able to welcome guests soon (hopefully!) so it's time to update this room. We want to tone it down, grow it up, and make it a calming oasis. The beds have to stay (which makes it tough) everything else can change. The house was built in 1850 ... help please!
