Have you tried a "commercial" style steam cleaner with a strong steam nozzle. I have one of these and the steam jet is quite strong https://www.ladybugsteamcleaners.com/

Use the steam cleaner nozzle to soften the dirt up, then rinse with a bit of water and use a shop vac to suck it all up? At least you wouldn't be using harsh chemicals.

As others have said, what type of tile you are referring to?.... As for a brush that would be safe for some tiles, and pliant, less stiff, we recommend a soft masonry brush. These are also great for cleaning ledgerstone or split face mosaics where you need gentle reach. I've had the same problem and just replaced it. I tried steam, scrubbers, professionals and it really never looked clean.

Buy one of these from Amazon. Drill brush cleaner. I tried steam but this worked like a miracle on tile and grout.

uscpsycho and others - Y'all are worrying me! Is a textured tile the same as a matte tile? I am looking at THIS tile for my M bathroom. It is called Phase White and is a slightly more "grittier" than normal matte product. It's porcelain.

Could someone post photos of their floors?

My bathroom tile is lightly textured. I use a steamer, not a steam mop, with a mop like attachment that allows me to use a microfiber cloth on it. The steam gets into the lower parts of the tile surface. The microfiber is enough to capture it all. I purchased a steamer because it also has a small brush attachment I use for the grout.

And to nhb22--matte tile is not the same as a textured tile. A matte tile can be a textured tile or not.

I go over tile grout with scrub head then reattach cloth head to wipe up.

Rehabit - Does your mop soak dirty water back up?

My daughter has a SHARK that she has never used. I used it to clean her engineered kitchen floor, and then borrowed it for a job at my previous home. It does not take up dirty water, so the cloth has to be changed often. I liked it, but would never use it on my real hardwood floors.

rrah - I have a clothes steamer that looks similar to your floor and wall steamer. I wonder if I could use it to loosen dirt in the tile grout when the time comes. We are building a home.

This conversation reminds me that I had the bathroom tile and grout cleaned in my previous home before we put it on the market. The guy used a steamer. The results were outstanding, but he could no get the shower grout very clean. I am going to talk to my tiler about sealant.

I have tried two different Karcher steam cleaners and neither one really did much for me. I'm tempted to try that Wagner steam cleaner linked above but if Karcher didn't do the job I don't think the Wagner would work better. I have seen those drill scrubbers but I suspect they make a mess with the splatter and the reviews confirm this. I have painted walls and cabinets all around and don't want to get product all over the place. @Charlotta Brower Do you think this would work well using just water?

If I ever get this tile clean (I'm open calling a pro like Stanley Steemer) is there anything I can apply to the tile like a sealant that would make it easier to clean in the future? Hardly seems worth it to spend all that money only to have the same problem before long.

I'm slightly comforted by the fact that others have faced this same nightmare. Textured tile should be banned! lol

I went against my better judgment and I'm glad I did. Earlier in the thread I doubted the Wagner would be effective but I was wrong. I also tried Soft Scrub with Bleach. This was recommended to me by my stone fabricator to clean stubborn stains on my quartz counters. I don't know why I didn't try it before but it works on this tile even better than the steamer! But it's more work than the steamer... I didn't try either one directly on my grout because I have Fusion Pro grout and I need to figure out if bleach and/or steam are OK to use on that type of grout.

Interesting! Thanks for the update. My tile is not like that. I have double checked with my supplier that the tile would not get grime imbedded in it. I am crossing my fingers that will be the case. But if not, I have noted the steamer and the Soft Scrub with bleach. I used that in my previous home on my porcelain sinks.
