Thank you! It definitely looked orange to me, but maybe it was the shade or perhaps faded blooms.

Mamaham, you're correct. Aquilegia canadensis is more orange than red when seen in person, or maybe a red-orange. I have some and I've also seen it growing in the wild. I'm not sure why it looks so red in pictures.

It's the combination of red sepals and the yellow inner petals that provide the orange color when seen at any distance. From our old kindergarten finger painting days, red and yellow make orange :-))

my point.. though i never got there is.. color changes according to light ..

it will look one color on cloudy days.. when your eyeballs are wide open ...

as compared to a very bright day.. when you have to squint at it ...

and dusk and dawn.. with the filtered light is different ...

as well as the hour of sunset.. when the sky turns red.. or pink or whatever ... and your eyeballs are wide open ...this is when blue hosta look photoshopped ...

anyway.. i was suggesting you look at the plant all day long.. over the various light conditions ... just to enjoy your garden more ...

this was very important to the camera peeps back in the stone age ... ten or 20 years ago ... before phones ruined everyones life .. lol ...

Saw it on a walk so I won’t be able to see it in every light. I’m always on the lookout for shade color. Lots of shade in my yard. Want more color.

It will grow in sun or part shade. If you took note of its location you could go back in early summer and gather some seed. It is one of my favorites.
