Baseboards style to match new cabinets or stay same throughout home

We live in what has been a traditional home with colonial stained baseboards and casings throughout first floor. We have the same baseboards and trim on on the second floor, but painted white. We just installed a new kitchen and family room that is a drastic change and more modern (more than we had imagined). The baseboards really feel off now even when we painted white. I have a photo of the existing one painted white, a simpler version of that or should we install a simple flat base (not shown)? Due to the existing floors, we still require shoe installation. We are leaving the window casings and painting white. Doors are a complete other dilemma that we need to address later. I appreciate your input. I've included a few additional photos to get a feel of the old vs. new. Dining room we will be removing dental and crown. We will be decorating in a transitional style, not modern. Thank you.

simplified version of existing without shoe (need). Or do we do flat board with shoe?

original style of home. It was beautiful and loved for 24 years.
