Helen, I just checked, and the coldest average temp in January in Victoria, BC, is 38F, and in Vancouver, BC, it's 35. It doesn't even freeze there. So about US zone 9 maybe? Carol, move to south BC near the coast. I'll meet you there. Bathsheba is exquisite, Helen. She gets better as she ages. Your photos of this rose in 2020 on HMF were beautiful, but these latest photos are even beautifuler (I know that's not a proper word, but it expresses my feelings). How large is your Bathsheba, and I forgot if you have more than one plant. If you do have multiples, do you grow them together? Diane

Diane, I think that is a good plan, lol. I only has one Bathsheba. It’s 10ft H x 4ft W. You saw the post of the full plant with the arbor, and the recent post is the back of the plant. Helen

Mama Africa (SPEresso/Espresso) florist rose bred by Jan Spek (Netherlands, 2005) and introduced in South Africa by @ludwigsroses (2009). This rose has a very unusual brown burgundy color blooms that last for a few weeks on a bush. It is very healthy and repeats well in my garden. Helen

If proliferation is beautiful to you :):) then this rose is awesome, because I love everything else about it. The first picture almost made me like proliferation, because it's SUCH a beautiful shot!!! Wow!!!

Helen, what gorgeous colored roses in the gorgeous photos. This rose has such strong color that I like the proliferations. Much larger, though, and they would dominate the bloom too much. I love Mama Africa. Diane

Stephanie, this rose is so pretty that I normally don't cut the blooms and just leave them on the bush. This time, I wanted to capture a bouquet of this rose so I cut the blooms off :) Helen

Eustacia Vye (AUSegdon/Sts. Francis and Claire) shrub rose bred by David Austin and introduced in the UK (2019) and US (2021). The apricot, pink, rosette, ruffled blooms have a strong, fruity fragrance and 41+ petals. It's 4ft H x 4ft W.

These are the first blooms of Eustacia Vye in my garden. The buds of this rose look a lot like Olivia Rose Austin's that I was worried I got the wrong rose. However, when the blooms opened with the unmistaken apricot color at the center, I'm so happy it's the right rose. I love this rose. Helen

Helen, I love it. EV retains its beauty in all stages of her bloom, it looks like from your excellent photos. Are you impressed so far with Eustacia? I think EV is much more beautiful than Olivia and has better color and bloom structure. Diane

Diane, I agree. EV is an improved version of Olivia Rose Austin. I especially love roses with EV or Miyabi‘s looks. The blooms have a mix of many colors blending from the center to the outer edges with an English rose look, imagining Distant Drums' color scheme with petal-packed blooms. The blooms have so much depth and character. I think David Austin does an excellent job with the US 2021 roses. I love both Eustacia Vye and Gabriel Oak.

Rosemantic Fuchsia (NIRpace) floribunda rose introduced in France by NIRP International in 2017. The 3.5-inch fuchsia quartered blooms have strong citrus, fruity fragrance and 41+ petals. It is its first year in my garden, and I like this rose.

Earth Angel (KORgeowim/Christiana/Duchesse Christiana/Herzogin Christiana/La Belle Rouet/Secret Parfuma/'KO 03/1436-02') rose bred by Tim Hermann Kordes (Germany, 2003) and introduced in the US 2015. Light pink, cream outer petals. Strong, apple, lemon, rose, sweet fragrance. 85 to 95 petals. Average diameter 3". Gorgeous old-fashioned bloom form. Even though it doesn't repeat as much as other roses, its unique beautiful look and lovely perfume earn its spot in my garden. Helen

Yes, Rosemantic Fuchsia is a tall rose. It is in a 15-gallon pot. You take good care of your potted roses, so I think RF will look even better in your garden, Carol 😊. Yes, I love Earth Angel’s blooms. They are special. Helen

I‘m in zone 10a SoCal…my roses haven’t yet exploded with blooms; its a young garden as of yet, hope it matures to look like yours!

jjk, once your roses are mature, they will give you more blooms.

I've been looking at David Austin's website and love the flowers that look similar to peony blooms! Do you have advice? I hear roses are more difficult. I think I'm ready.

Also, Carding Mill is exquisite! I have never seen such a beautiful Falstaff-love it’s wine colors! Bethsheba is sensational, too. I may need to add a few of these to my spring list. Rosemantic Fushia is grand! Your gardens are so colorful & grand! How many roses do you have? Your spring-summer photos were a joy to find today! Wish I saw them sooner last summer! My gardens ate mainly new landscaped from this year & last summer-it will be exciting to see them grow bigger as yours do over time.

Thank you Kitty. I have 200+ roses in my garden. Because I have a small garden, more than half in pots and the rest in the ground. Eden is about 12ft H in my garden. My Eden is 7 years old. It has about 3 flushes. Because it doesn't repeat as much as other climbers in my garden, I gave away 2 Eden and only keep one. If you google for "eden houzz", there are many threats about Eden. Thank you! I think we can all have 12 ft Edens… she puts out huge thick canes!! With better soils/fertizers this year I find my roses even in my cold climate can grow really healthy/tall! I am excited!. With burlap & mounding as well as planting in south facing side home has really helped my roses to do better this year. I am surprised they are as tall as some CA roses, but still many new babies are just starting spurts if growth.Next year may be my first real floriferous show! This year many bloomed but all new roses mainly!
