Wallet style ideas

I need to replace this old workhorse wallet that I got in Stockholm years ago, so I'd like to see any styles you have found that work well for you. I know this one is big and could possibly downsize, but I do use most of the stuff in here regularly. It would be great to see some other styles here, as I don't have a good shop anywhere nearby to actually browse. Please share a link if you know of one for good selections too (and no personal id details if you share a pic). Much obliged.

I have a Kipling wallet, more than 15 years old and still in very good shape. Mine is similar to this, an older model, but there are other styes.

I use a very slim wallet from Brahmin that isn’t made any longer, but this one (the Ady) is similar. They also carry larger ones that may be more similar to what you want and all come in many colors.

I use a small Frye zip wallet that they no longer sell. It is the small version of the Frye melissa wallet. I only use a couple of cards regularly and rarely carry a lot of cash so I don't need a lot of space. I like the security of a zipper.

Also, I'm getting really crabby in my old age about the weight of my purse. I've pared down the size of my purse and what I carry in it.

I have THIS which would be too small for you but they also have LARGER styles. I love the colorful options!

I love every Coach wallet I’ve ever had, and they’re having a great sale right now:

    https://www.coachoutlet.com/women/wallets/#prefn1=silhouette&prefv1=Large%20Wallets%20|%20Billfolds

This is similar to my current one, but there are bigger ones:

My others have been from local saddle/leather shops (usually tooled leather) and although pricier, hold up wonderfully.

A Longchamp checkbook style that has been with me for decades and looks very nearly new. Same style Prada in black nylon that I don't think is made any more - it's equally as old as the Longchamp. If it begins to look look dirty or neglected I just wipe it with a damp cloth....presto, like new. I don't change or buy wallets often. I'm trying to tie either of mine to a date and its got to be at least 20 years back! Longchamp checkbook style wallet

Sadly, this entire last year always locked into my car. I go into a store with a credit card in my pocket and a mask, kleenex, nothing else.

I purchased one several years ago with RFID blocking from Amazon. I'm not able to find the exact one but, if the blocking technology appeals to you, perhaps take a look there.

2katz, those are very cool wallets, esp. the larger one.

I don't use wallets any more, but purses with zippered pouches where I put money, credit cards etc. They also have a pouch for my phone.

I don't prefer a certain brand, as long as it's good quality leather. I do not like a large wallet so something like 2katz showed is my style. Kind of square. I do not carry a checkbook (we write very few checks) or a ton of credit cards so only need something small. My mom would put every receipt, ticket, etc., etc., etc. in a long checkbook holding wallet. It was so full, she'd put a rubber band around it!! I'd cringe every time she pulled it out. LOL

These are all great to browse through - thanks! Wallets are just one of the quotidian things that can either be great or a daily hassle, so I appreciate all these new ideas. I did come upon the Mywalit styles that 2katz posted earlier today, and I think that's a style I bought for my stepdaughter in Florence several years ago, and always wished I'd gotten myself one too. Has it been durable, 2katz? They are so cheerful and a change from my normal subtle leather choices. That might be the one. Now, which one? Choices choices...

I have been buying my bags and wallets from a lady in the UK for years. She’s on Etsy and the leather she uses is beautiful, very similar to your wallet. Her wallets may be too small, but there are so many shop options on Etsy and a lot of the stores will customize. Here’s the shop I’m referring to. My late husband immigrated to Sweden and lived in Stockholm for years. He loved his Swedish Leather wallet too. It’s falling apart, but he couldn’t part with it.

@talaveran - excellent quality - I’ve had it about six years and it’s like new. I’m pretty sure it could be the last wallet I’ll ever need.

Thanks Lukki - those bags are really nice, especially the big satchels. BUT I do not need one! Let me diverge from wallets for a moment. I got this Marimekko bag on sale online 8 years ago for teaching, and it was too big for that and too heavy. I have one on wheels now (for when I'm back on campus). I can't really do air travel with it for the same reasons, but it's fine for car getaways where I'm not lugging it on my shoulder. Just sharing another nice bit of Nordic design. And yes, Stockholm is such a great city - I'd love to live there.

Glad to hear your wallet is a keeper, 2katz, I'm very tempted now.

Wallets are personal. My handbags have gotten smaller over the years so my wallet had to adapt. I use a small bi-fold and only keep my most often used cards (license, credit and Insurance cards) in my wallet. All the misc cards are in a small pouch. My handbag interiors are seem to be dark colors, so I choose more colorful wallet and phone cases so I can find these items quickly.

I loved my wallet that held everything. But, a few years ago I started using a smaller folding wallet. It wasn’t convenient for credit cards, though, so I started using this kind:

It is so easy to use! The zipper compartment doesn‘t hold much, I think I just have a $5 bill in it. On the back is a pocket where I keep my license; it has a small so you can’t read any identifying info through it.

Then, I also carry the folding wallet. Both go in my purse in A dedicated zippered section. I find it so convenient to take out just the credit card case, pay, slip the card back in its slot, and snap the strap shut, or just the small wallet for cash.

A wallet really is personal! We all shop, move about, organize, etc, differently!

My favorite full size wallets have been Fossil and Kate Spade. After having surgery I could not carry my usual larger purse with my full size wallet. I moved to a cross-body purse and two piece system that fit well in the cross-body, a zippered pouch for cash and coins and a smaller leather zippered card case with pockets on the outside for my Driver’s Liscense and favorite credit card. Even after recovery I kept on with the smaller purse and pouches, it has really worked out well for me for my short local shopping trips.

I carry three items in my purse (well three items containing other items! LOL):

A make-up bag size zippered pouch, a smaller size matching zipper pouch and my wallet. The larger pouch holds a lipstick, a mirror, small hand sanitizer, etc. The smaller pouch has a vial of tylenol, a pen, notepad and my phone can go in there if needed. The wallet has the usual things. I do not want my drivers license, credit card, money, etc. loose in my purse, even in a zippered area. I like to change out purses, and taking my license or credit card in and out, too easy to lose it or leave it in one purse when I'm switching to another.

    I don't carry large bags.

Ah yes, make up bags. I carry one too and can recommend it: a LeSportsac 3 zip cosmetic bag. Mine has held up so well and I've used this brand for years. Looks like they have some nice sales at the moment, and a nice variety of styles.

I have two of the full size Fossil wallets, one in tan and one in turquoise, and I love them. This is the longest I’ve ever used any style of wallet. The back side has a zippered coin pocket, and there is plenty of card space inside.

I have a colorful zip around wallet made of leather printed with a Paul Klee painting, Garden View. It is very colorful and the most functional wallet I have ever owned as it opens completely. It’s just deep enough for an American passport and has a zippered pouch for change, several areas for currency and room for many cards on each folded out side.

May I say as a lefty, those zippers on wallets are made for righties!! That's why I prefer snaps.

Years ago we had this same conversation and I'm still carrying the same wallet. As ugly as it is I won't get rid of it unless I can find another.

It's slim, light weight, and I don't have to pull it out of my purse to grab a cc, money, change, or anything else.

Sjerin, I am left handed. The great thing about a zippered case that has no external flap or compartment is that both sides are identical. You can simply turn it over on either side and unzip it and open as you wish. It’s not ”handed” in any way or at least, mine is not.

That is true, Kswl, but there is something in my that picks up a wallet with the front (denoted in some way,) facing forward. I do that with the wallet I use now, and always have to turn it around to be able to get a credit card out with my left hand. I've often wondered why I pick my wallet out of my purse that way.

I guess I chose better than I realized, sjerin. You’re right that most wallets have a front that is clearly indicated. Mine just has a painting that wraps around it and is so abstract there’s no top, bottom, front or back. I never thought about that being an advantage but it surely is. Being a lefty in a right handed world is hard enough!
