Apparently Werner and I have similar tastes in hostas. I also have Rainforest Sunrises (just starting to unfurl), Yellow Polka Dot Bikini (advanced pips), and Autumn Frost (full emerged). Very beautiful specimens, Werner!

Thank you all for the complements. They all look good right now, but that is only because the Baltimore heat hasn't set in. Most of my hosta become bleached and start to brown by June, even in fairly deep shade. We have bad air pollution and strong UV intensity, so we have a lot of poisonous ozone on the hot days that burns the foliage.

Your hostas look so beautiful and healthy. I love Yellow Polka Dot Bikini! Has it been stable? The coloring reminds me a bit of Tattoo, not the stripes, but the colors. I ordered Tattoo this year, but may want this one too!

Ok I was just reading a different post on YPDB and it looked nothing like this. Yours is so yellow and the other one is pretty much green. Newbie so probably a dumb question, but what causes them to look so different?

I recently bought an orange marmalade at nursery because it had lovely yellow in the center and darker green outside. I was drawn to it because all my other hostas (not very many) are solid green or green/green tone. Almost as soon as I planted it, the yellow faded and now it’s pretty boring two tone green. ???

Here's some new terms for you:

Lutescent - a hosta that comes up green in the spring and turns more yellow as the season progresses. I think this is due to temperature.

Viridescent - a Hosta that comes up yellow (or white) in the spring and turns green as the season progresses.

Albescent - A hosta that turns white as the season progresses.

YPDB (and Hanky Panky which is very similar) have outside margins that are viridescent while the inside is lutescent. So it starts out yellow (even white) with a green interior and ends up being green with a yellow interior. There's some good progression shots in this thread of my Hanky Panky.

Scroll down until you see my post. Also color can be dependent on the amount of light a plant gets. The more sunlight, the lighter it gets. Sun can keep a viridescent Hosta yellow for longer.

The center on Orange Marmalade is albescent. It comes up yellow and turns white if given enough sun. If your Orange Marmalade turned green, perhaps its in too much shade and it could still turn yellow (or even white) later in the year. Although, I've never seen one go green like yours. Is it cold there (its cold here)? Maybe that has something to do with the color. (Still never seen one with a green interior, even in the cold).

so orange marmalade.... I was out in garden this weekend and now orange marmalade looks like it did when I bought it (or at least very similar)?!?! A mystery. Perhaps it was shocked from transport? And now that it is getting established, it is happier? Or could be the warmer weather we are having? we have past our last cold spell as far as I can tell. Must be the warmer weather that has brought the color back. I’m glad because I wasn’t loving the green/green marmalade...
