There is a shrub growing under our deck that I've allowed to grow just to see what it does. Previous owners kept it sheared.

It tends to stay lanky and never fills out any more than what you see in the photos. Local nursery isn't sure what it is.

Currently, it is around 8' tall and this spring it put out lots of elongated spurs/blooms that were initially covered in white fuzz.

The photos are taken from the deck, looking down on the plant (sorry, can't walk around there at the moment).

I'm located in SW Portland, Or. and this plant is growing on the west side of the house.

I'm beginning to think this is a volunteer plant......any ideas?
