Just saw this. I have not tried the dwarf form, but Panax quinquifolius is easy but slow. I collect the seeds when they turn red and put in a container with a cover to discourage critters. In two years I normally have a leaf or two, but I don't do anything in between. Containers are left outside in the shade, and we usually get enough rain so that I water only occassionally in the hot summer.
