ANYTHING can be grown in a pot ... its the basis of the entire horticultural industries ...

but the trick is.. to use the proper media .. for the given plant.. learn how to water properly .. and how at apply the requisite fertilizer.. based on what you wash out the bottom ...

with all that said .. and considering what today is.. mothers day ... a lot of these mini or dwarf plants are sold as short term gifts.. not really meant to be long lived ... often there are a lot of plants jammed in that type of pot.. for instant impact ..

but given enough learning and practice.. you can do it...

the hardest part.. is winter storage of the pots/plants ... as roses are not houseplants .. and short of a light stand.. and proper light ... they arent going to thrive indoors ... not to mention.... those plants that have a requisite dormancy ...

btw: a lot of these plants are selected.. because they actually root easily ... thats what make them rather cheap ... so there is another hobby option.. try rooting some cuttings ... when the plant gets bigger ...

Hi Andrew, the answer is yes you can grow roses in pots. If you couldnt most of us would have no place for those roses we want but have no room for. Some on this forum only grow in pots

They do take more monitoring for water and fertalizer but worth the effort.

I am fortunate to be in a zone where they can stay out all winter if you arent then you need to have a place to overwinter yours. Eventually you will want the biggest pot that you can find. I use resin half barrels from Home Depot.

Yes you can and they can still grow huge..These David Austins are in pots!

You don't mention your location. If your winters are freezing, you will have to protect your rose so the roots don't freeze. People on this forum will be happy to tell you how.

And if your summers are hot, you may have to water it every day, depending on the container. So you need to have a plan if you don't have the time to do so (travel, etc.).
