KITCHEN CABINET LAYOUT!!!!

Please help me and tell me how this looks.

Are the hutch cabinets working??

Should I just do normal size cabinets instead?

We are adding in the windows on range wall.

Is the left hutch creating a "wall" where there isn't one?

Looking for professional opinions here.

Counter top will be soapstone and a 5" soapstone backsplash and behind range.

white cabinets

marble and oak island.

thank you!!

I would eliminate the corner cabinet and make the open shelves bigger. Otherwise, when you are standing at the sink you are going to see this big thing out of the corner of your eye. I would think it will block window light too. I love hutches that sit on counters but only if they do not take away preciously needed counter space. I likes lots of counter space especially around the sink. It looks like the hutch to the left of sink is taking up too much of that precious space. Perhaps uppers would be better. Otherwise looks awesome to me!

what depth do you recommend for the hutches? I also had a rendering for a a normal wall cabinet on the left and a hutch on the right.... im not sure i like the mismatched cabinet? My favorite was all open shelving on right side... but im not sure i would keep them clean and organized.

The left of the sink with the hutch cabinet is about 18"

It’s hard for me to read your plan on my phone. Are those spice-pull-outs on either side of the range? If so, don’t do those. Just make the adjoining drawers wider. If I am mistaken, then never mind.

I really like all open shelving to right of sink. It does not seem too much to keep organized and would be handy for everyday stuff. 18 inches of counter space to left of sink seems tight to me, but that would be up to you. You would have plenty of space on right side of sink if you get rid of the hutch on right side. Mismatching does not bother me and I actually like it. IMO you can never have enough drawers or counter space but everyone needs to decide that for themself.

so you like the left side huch but not the right?

I agree the full open shelves would look better... i think the plan was to store the plates and glasses on left side and small appliances other things on right side. iam concerned about my commitment level to open shelves as well, but i agree they would look beautiful.

Thank you for taking the time to do this. We have worked so hard with measurements to make everything symetrical... i dont think i would like the window and sink off center.

    thank you

    @nancy k
So I keep going back about the open shelves on the right side. If I eliminated that cabinet- the range wall would not be symmetrical. We had changed the windows and the depth of that cabinet to get that wall symmetrical- if we removed the cabinet- on the range wall the left side would be wider than the right . Thoughts?

@Elle N The lack of symmetry caused by removing the cabinet and having open shelves would not bother me. I actually am bothered by that corner cabinet. However, if it bothers you that is important. You could also do what someone else suggested and have uppers to the right of the sink. This would give you more counter space and maybe you would feel better about symmetry?

You are referring to the the cabinet to the left of the sink right?
That’s the one bothering me. I’m just confused because you said as someone else suggested… but it seems if I’m understanding you correctly… your suggesting the same - which is al
Open shelving on the right side?

@Elle N Sorry I was not very clear. I really love the idea of all open shelving to the right of the sink. I think the hutch to the left of sink looks good. What I was trying to say is that if you are concerned about open shelves for some reason, you could do what @mama goose_gw zn6OH suggested which is uppers to right of sink vs open shelves. I do not like uppers as much though because that is similar to what I have now and I have been wanting to replace them with open shelves! I like the openness that the open shelves provide. I also do not like uppers where my primary work space is.

Ok all- we tweaked the renderings again and this might be the final one.
    Thought!
