Where would the backsplash be? I would paint the bar a fun color that coordinates with the black granite.

I will perhaps post another angle. Backsplash was just an idea - no particular thought process.

@Design Directives, LLC Looks amazing! What color is the wood and where did you get the bar stools from? I was thinking of going light (though my preferences have always been dark, I thought I could try something different 😂) with velvet bar stools with gold legs - more of a modern feel - but wasn’t sure how it will come along.

@decoenthusiaste I would love a lighted display, but there’s not much of a space behind the bar for additional storage/shelves.

Are you going to paint or replace the flooring? If not, how about covering the lower wood of the bar with panels of button-tufted upholstery? Faux white leather with brass buttons might be fab. This kind of a look, but vertical

Paint the walls, paint the outside of the bar wood (or stain it a different color), & get new stools. Do you want stools with a back?

@User Amazing suggestions! I liked them all, but I am unable to visualize or understand the tufted headboard vision. For me, the wall behind the bar and the wood area outside the bar are my priority. But while at it, lighting and oh yes, definitely the bar stools (with back, not so swivel oriented) are also in my list.

I was looking at the wood under the stone top of the bar and wondering how to paint it to look nice, or use maybe use peel-and-stick wallpaper — but then I figured one would need to first put a wallpaper onto panels of something stiff and fix the panels over the wood — then I thought: “Why not upholster those panels?“.

I thought button-tufted faux leather would be the most glamorous for a bar. My first thought was black leather, then I thought white leather would be more fun.

I’m not an upholsterer so I don’t know if this kind of stuff is hard or expensive to do.

And maybe you just think it is too crazy.

I would restain the bar with a dark stain. As for the paint in the basement I would go with a light greige. Then you can have some fun with the stools & lights. You could also add a wood plank wall, shiplap, or stone behind the bar on that wall.

Your refrigerator is built into the wall, you may be able to build shelves in where your art is hanging or perhaps above the refrigerator.

Two things stand out to me...one ...the countertop seems too thin for such a big bar ...some sort of trim...corner mould?...beam?...underneath it ...to make it look more substantial...covering up or replacing the wood braces........the other thing would be to change the color theme...wall and ceiling color ...ceiling detail or beams of some type? seating adjacent?....in that area ....to separate it from the other different spaces...and lessen the long “bowling alley” feel of the whole space...it is really hard to be sure what will work without a view of the width of the whole space...the pics make it look like a hike from one end to the other?
