Countertop with no backsplash

I am having kitchen countertops templated today and just thought of a design question. There is one countertop in a separate area of the kitchen, away from the work stations (range, sink, etc.) and this separate one has only base cabinets, no uppers. I am not doing a tile backsplash in this area. The work areas do have a tile backsplash and upper cabinets. Is it OK to just have the countertop (scribed to the wall?) with no quartz backsplash, just the painted wall? I think it will look weird to have that 3-4” splash when it is nowhere else in the kitchen. I know it’s last minute, but is there anything I’m missing? Many thanks!

I would put in the 3 to 4 inch splash to "finish" the appearance. It would probably look slightly unfinished if the countertops simply run into the wall.

It's not a deal breaker, however. I doubt most people would notice.

You don’t NEED anything there. ( would I consider continuing the backsplash- possibly... but I would want to see the space and style... ) you can also always do backsplash after. Which I actually suggest for the entire kitchen ...

Sure, why not. Many folks have no backplash and just paint all the way to the counter. Or tile that area, too (? all the way to the ceiling -- depends on the area). One of those options, but no the 3-4" quartz, it would look out of place.

You don't need the 4" backsplash. It will look visually cleaner/more modern without it.

Also, for the rest of the kitchen, if you are tiling, please do not add a 4" countertop "backsplash" and then tile above it. Leave the 4" off, period.

Fine to do without if it's not a workstation area. We skipped a backsplash for a clean modern look in an area that included behind the sink, and it was a pain to keep clean and prevent the caulk from peeling.

Thank you to everyone for your helpful and speedy replies! We are going for a clean, modern look so I appreciate your input! The tiled areas will not have the quartz backsplash and based on the responses here, we’ll template for that lone counter to just have the painted wall. I did see a comment here on houzz awhile ago to make sure the fabricator “scribes” the countertop to the wall when one is not using a backsplash, so I will request that and hope it is done correctly! Thank you again for your help!

My bar fridge countertop goes straight into the wall...no sink, no need for a backsplash. Looks clean and simple. My kitchen (same area, different wall) counters have mostly a 30" backsplash....little areas without any. Doesn't look odd at all.

Adding a pic...backsplash and no backsplash right next to each other, same wall.

Another option is to have a 2 inch splash of the counter material cut for that area. Can always have them cut it, wait to install to see if you want/need it.
