I love Ben Vernooj. Mine gets morning sun. I also have 2 Paisley Prints which get mid day sun and don’t burn. I am getting Color Festival this year. All seem like very good choices.

The only one I have is Paisley Print grows well in dappled shade throughout the day for me. It’s one of the last to emerge in spring just before On Stage.

Great list. Soil & locations differ, but I got Aftergow from NC in 2019 and it is really outstanding. And my Paisley Print (also NC 2019) is so unique. It gets sun from 12 to 1:3.
Those are only 2 I have from your list.

i went with xl hostas or my Nayor Creek order. Ended with a couple of extras my wife added. Plan on putting a bed in the wettest part of my yard and let the giants drink all they wish I put a Formal Attire in the area as a holding space one year and it gets larger every year despite having standing water on it for a few days various times of the year

Moonstruck was a serious dud for me. I gave up after several tries.

What a shame utog. I adore Moonstruck and it does very well here. I wonder if it is more sensitive to your heat.

Moonstruck and Rain Dancer (and the (yeech) mouse) are the only ones I don't have. Marshmallow Sky has the white center you are looking for. I hear it grows very well. Starts white, stays white. First year for me. Color Festival goes through a color change and that is interesting for me. I prefer the yellow center on this one as it has more variety of colors through the leaf. Mine gets dappled shade until 11:00. Then direct sun for an hour or two at the most. Then house shade. I think an hour of sun will turn this one white, but more sun will turn it white faster. Also, I don't think it has issues with melting out (the white center burning and dessicating). First pic from 6/11 second from 8/20:

Ben Vernooij is a favorite. I like it in mostly shade to keep the edges yellow and the center blue. Mine is in dappled shade but gets a little early afternoon sun. Early May

Afterglow is great. Paisley Print is slow and needs the right spot (not sure what that is). My Ambrosia had issues with the plant, but I'm hoping this year it fully recovers.

Is that a Tsuga next to your Moonstruck? Which one? I'm just starting to interplant some conifers with the Hosta to create some winter interest (and spring, and summer, and fall).

Steve that is Tsuga canadensis ‘Mount Hood’. Not sure if it is available anywhere now as the mail order guy I got it from has retired.

Well, that's a beauty. I'll be on the lookout. I've planted 'Moon Frost', 'Hebefolia' and Vermeulen's Golden (I think this is the always gold form of 'Vermeulen's Wintergold') along with a dwarf Arizona fir and a 'Yellow Dream' Japanese Umbrella Pine. All varieties I think will handle less than full sun.

I keep looking for a place to put a 'Tom Thumb Gold' Oriental Spruce, but I just don't like spruce with Hostas.

I will not be tempted by Moonstruck again.

But of course you will utog. You know you won't be able to stop yourself! LOL

Annette, the only one I have is LS Paisley Print and it has been slooow for me. It’s been moved a couple of times because it was burning in each spot I put it. Then I grew it in a pot last summer in shade. That helped, so I planted it in August in the ground. The pips are just barely showing. I bought it in 2019, so I am hoping for a leap this year. But mine is in total shade.

Debra, I wonder if I should just skip the Paisley. I have bought probably a half dozen Lakesides over the years and not a one has lasted more than a couple of years. Maybe they just aren’t suited for the south.

Those Moonstruck photos are beautiful. I’ve had a lot of success with Lakeside Masterpiece but like You some of my others just slowly withered away.

Lakesides were made for the south, but maybe not that far south. Although, you are in the mountains now, so it should be ideal. Yes L. Paisley Print is slow, but give it the right conditions (possible all day dappled shade, or morning sun to dappled shade or ...) and it is one of the most stunning Hosta around. Someone here has posted a well grown one. Here's one, the 6th picture down. Sorry its not the best photo.There are others. I think in the alphabet from 2019.

They get part sun, minimum part shade. The top one is grown in the ground, and the bottom in a pot. They are the same age.
