The first year my Guardian Angel came up with no variegation. As it matures the variegation is more noticeable. So give it time.

If it doesn't show some variegation as a juvenile plant, it's never going to have the striking variegation you see in photos. This one is extremely variable out of tissue culture, with many being solids, some with a small amount of variegation, and about half having varying amounts of more extensive variegation.

Also, the plant in the photo does not show any of the ruffled edges GA should have. This is one that I would never order on line, and I recommend that you find a nursery where you can check all the plants, and pick the one with the most variegation and ruffling. You might also ask some of the smaller hosta sellers if they have it, and ask for a photo before ordering. If you get a good one, it's spectacular in the garden, so worth seeking out.

That was my plan, but I got weak this winter and thought I would give it a shot. Guess I'll be on the lookout for a good one. Between ordering this one and double ordering another one I could have . . . bought another Hosta. But I'm not (totally) giving up on this one (yet).

When I read the post I thought you were talking about Blue Angel because that’s what my first impression was.......duh. But since you ordered from a vendor, a good one (I would presume no less) maybe by expressing your concern, they would send out a new one. Dhaven is right, it lacks the ruffling that even a young plant should have I would think.

Steve, I've attached a photo of my GA which I got about 5 years ago. It's over 24 inches high and over 50 inches wide. It has rippled leaves with a great pattern. I don't think that mine was ever just green/blue

but I'm not certain. It's behind a large Seducer.
