Plant ID - dandelion?

The leaves look like a dandelion but the flower is much prettier than the usual dandelions we have around here. This is a dandelion, isn’t it?

No, it isn’t a dandelion. At least not Taraxacum.

I’ve never seen Krigia virginica. Is the lemon yellow accurate? Perhaps you could compare your plant with some pictures.

Is there any chance of a picture of the basal rosette?

Pyrrhopappus is a possibility.

Yes, the flowers are lemon yellow. thanks for the suggestions so far. I’ll look those up and compare. Here’s a picture of the basal rosette the flower comes from.

Oh, I see they close up in the afternoon and open again in the morning. At least those in the sun. The above photo is in the shade at the edge of some trees and the bottom photo is the same flower I originally posted. It’s in full sun.
