If I wanted to pair a white ceramic shower tile with a marble floor I would do an uniformly white ceramic tile and not one with variability in whiteness like Cloe. Consider stone-look porcelain tile that doesn’t resemble marble for the floor.

Btw if you want a marble floor choose honed marble, not polished. Honed marble is slippery enough when wet (ask me how I know...)

I have decided to go with Bedrosian Materika 12x24 in Silver for floor and to continue into shower floor. I felt the marble floor would compete with the Cloe and too much white. (free standing tub, shade of white on walls and countertop) The vanity counter is Calacatta Laza with an Ogee edge. Demo starts 6/23.

@laurieguthrie I like the Materika. That is going to look great. I think I'll take a look at it in person at Bedrosian tomorrow. Good point on marble competing with Cloe. Your design is vrey similar to ours. I am going to look at Calacatta Laza. What is the material of Calacatta Laza? Is it from Bedrosian? Thanks tons for the info!

The Calacatta Laza is a quartz. i got it from

Preciision Countertops. There is a similar name at Bedrosians but it isn’t the same. The materika has a nice small pattern with some interest and it doesn’t compete with anything. I’m also thinking of doing glass handles with polished nickel for

the vanity. i am waiting for sample.

Our plans were put on hold for a short time so I am still deciding on a floor tile.

@amateuratdesign, I’d love to know your thoughts after going to the store! I wish we had one around here. I love the Blomma tile and think it would pair well with the cloe, but the price is higher than we’d like to spend.

Our bathroom is only 5x8 and with the bathmat there really isnt much flooring to show through so I’m open to both polished or honed tiles. We’re also fine with polcelain and not marble- was really looking more at marble-look tiles. I’m thinking if we have a brown wood vanity and other accents with color then it will be enough and not too white. if our bathroom was bigger I’d probably think otherwise though.

Any thoughts on these tiles?

I would not do the Chloe with those floors. Too many competing colors. I love the variation in the Chloe and that should be the star. Maybe match up one of the light grays from the Cloe for a floor tile.

The second one of the four I think looks great. It complements without competing. There is less variation in it than the cloe. It looks good with each color variation of the cloe you placed against it.

@Real Designs by J. Hambel thank you! I’ve seen so many of the cloe tiles paired with bold patterns for floor tiles that I thought some of those marble-look tiles would work. The gray seems to work well and doesnt look too much like concrete in person.

The vanity color is Cheating Heart (dk gray) by Benjamin Moore, glass handles with a little polished nickel and SW egret white for walls. The floor tile (materika in silver 12x24) will be placed in a herringbone pattern.

Wow, so many of these comments sound like the dilemmas I am having! In my 6'x8' bath, I am doing Allora Stella matte porcelain tile (starburst effect) on the floor floor tile, Cloe 2"x8" white for shower walls shower wall tile and 2" Carrara Chateau tumbled marble hex for shower floor shower floor tile. Vanity is white washed walnut with Jasmine Pearl quartz top. I was concerned with using glossy shower tile with the very matte flooring, but I think the variations in tone with Cloe will make it work. Also wondering whether the lines in the Stella tile will look dull compared to the gloss of the Cloe. And what to use for shower sill/curb..just plain white quartz?? Any suggestions or advice, please?!!

So funny…the starburst tile

was my first choice. I have six samples to help me decide. At the 11th hour I changed my mind. i really

wanted the hex and pattern but, I was afraid I would tire off it and i was concerned of the transition into the shower. I wanted something timeless and that would flow with the cloe tile. I didn’t want the floor to compete with the cloe tile. My floor is a matte finish which will make the cloe stand out. My shower curb/sill will be the same as flooring. Hope this helps.

@pmslaw1 feel free to start your own thread ☺️ I honestly prefer a solid surface for the curbs, ledges, benches. I usually go with whatever the counter material is. I’ve wrapped the curb with tile on the sides and topped it with the stone from the counter. There’s usually plenty of “backsplash” material leftover to make this happen. For an even cleaner look I will wrap the entire curb with the counter material.

@laurieguthrie I was afraid of getting tired of the starburst, too, until I actually got a sample. It's matte and to me, it's actually fairly subtle. Though only time will tell! I didn't want to go all white and I didn't want anything too dark since it's such a tiny bath. I do think the shower curb being the same as the floor will look the best; that's one issue I have with the starburst. Thx for the comments! :)

@laurieguthrie Wow, I love your choices! I chickened out on the starburst floor tile, too, but ended up with something even bolder! I really like your Cloe done vertically. It's such a beautiful tile. I've been struggling with paint colors but thought I had decided on BM Wind's Breath until I saw your post, so I'm gonna check out the SW Egret White. It looks great in there!

I like the Egret White so much I most likely will paint the rest of the house in this color.

I did use the Starburst tile in the hall bathroom and had it installed at an angle. Agreeable gray on the wall and Naval

on the vanity. Here’s a progress picture.

I used the starburst in a secondary full bathroom. I didn’t change the shower. It’s a full bath/shower insert. It is in perfect condition so I didn’t see the need to remove it.

What did you select for your master floor with the cloe?

@laurieguthrie "Iceberg Blend Geo Marble"; my vanity is "white washed walnut" (without the crazy wooden backsplash), so tried to bring the greys and browns together with the greys in Cloe

@laurieguthrie What is the shower floor made of? Where are your electrical outlets? In cabinets? Is that working for you?

The shower floor is the same bathroom floor. Bedrosian Materika Porcelain. One outlet is on the right side of vanity (next to hanging towel) and the other one is in the top drawer. I didn’t want a cutout in the backsplash. Drawer is 3”

Wow, looks great!!! Have never seen the Cloe done vertically :) The shower floor tile looks great with it, too!

My only requirement for tile for a bathroom floor or shower floor is that it is not glossy, shiny, polished or slippery in any way. A slip-and-fall in a bathroom can be deadly with all the hard surfaces. Safety first, safety second and safety third! I also carry a rubber shower mat with me when we travel: tub/shower combos in hotels often have slick finishes, and add a little soap or shampoo and you have a hazard at your feet. If needed, I will use a bath towel to line a slick tub or shower. Learned the hard way.

@felizlady we hve a bath rug down and as the bathroom is on the smaller side the rug takes up a lot of that floor space! It’s also just me and my husband that use that shower and we both know to be careful. It works for us which is all that matters.

It looks great. I love the vertical tile in the shower and your choice of shower floor tile. It’s a soothing, calming room. Enjoy! And post photos when the shower is done.

Thank You. Schluter was used but I don’t recall the color. I can find out. First one was too gray and stood out too much even there is gray in the tile. It’s a creamer white.

@laurieguthrie How do you like the texture of the Materika for the shower? We are planning to do the same for transition for our floor to shower floor in the mud color, wondering how slippery it is? Beautiful bathroom btw. Thanks!

to be used as a shower floorI found it to be a bit slippery. The potential is there when soap suds hit the floor. As a precaution I ordered from amazon clear strips to add traction. Barely

noticeable.
