Towel Bars or Hooks

We have towel bars in the current house but considering hooks in the new. Does anyone have advice on what is best? If I go with hooks, I was thinking deeper ones would be better so if someone has a recommendation please let me know. Thanks.

My bathroom is tiny with very little wall space so when I remodeled I went with hooks. Works great! I did two doubles next to the shower for bath towels, a single next to the sink for a hand towel, and a triple on the door for bathrobes and/or guest towels. I probably bought them at Rejuvenation, but can't say for sure. I also installed a coordinating grab bar inside the shower that holds the bath mat.

einportlandor - Thanks for the advice. We are downsizing so the new baths will be smaller. Glad they worked for you!

I have several 2 pronged hooks that I use for my shower cap and bathrobe; and have a towel bar for my body towel, and a ring towel holder for my face towel next to the sink. They are all quite functional too❣️

At my beach house I went totally with hooks. It holds so many more towels. Sure towels don’t look as neat on the hooks. But that doesn’t bother me because the lack of space with bars caused guests to just throw wet towels over the shower rod, which looks much worse. Definitely make them deep enough for larger towels.

We went with hooks with our MB remodel. I ordered them from Pottery Barn, not too expensive and very functional.

Towel bars. Towels dry faster and you can dry stuff you don't want to put in the dryer on them.

I have the opposite experience -- towels dry faster on a hook. Must vary depending on location, humidity, etc.

My towels dry fine and I am on the Great Lakes where humidity is high. Just only hang one towel per hook. If there is more than one on a hook could be a problem . I have 5 hooks in the space of a single towel bar that would only hold 1-2 towels. I do have a towel ladder at one house. That holds more than a traditional towel bar and is a nice place to stage clean towels. So that’s another option.

@einportlandor: "I have the opposite experience -- towels dry faster on a hook."

Well if that's true then people are really wasting their time unfolding their their wet laundry, placing it on a clothes line, and securing it in place with clothes pins. They should just throw their wrinkled clumps of wet laundry over the clothes lines straight from the washer.

Perhaps how fast towels dry on a hook depends on the hook. Some hooks are so much bigger and deeper than others.
