It is very pretty with yellow edge. All the descriptions say white edge. I like the yellow better.

many of the older white edged plants actually come out yellow.. and change to white.. so maybe a little early to say it wont ...

i think of decorata as dull .. this one is shiny ...

decorata also has cleandon streaking.. this one doesnt .... that third grey color between the 2 dominant colors ..

i dont think this is decorata...

Maybe So Sweet?

Doesn’t look like So Sweet to me.......leaves seem narrower. The clump seems more open , but hard to tell. Also my SS does not get white border, but they both are in shade.

Deb, As I look at your pictures and compare I see a lot of similarity to my plants. When I dug them up and re-potted they were each single stems. They have over-wintered in my holding beds under a foot of leaves. I am impressed by their growth.

Ken, It will be interesting to see if the edge color changes with growth. I just feel a need to know names, now that I am labeling so much. Hoping to take more pictures this year.

Diane, given that info, it’s likely So Sweet.......SS has a fragrant flower in August. Do you remember it being fragrant? I hope sunnywood chimes in, I believe it’s his favorite hosta..... or was it Jon? Either one perhaps could help. :-)

Deb, It was so shaded I do not remember that it ever flowered. I will be aware this year. i looked at the pictures on the Hosta Library and SS looks like it has white edges, rather than the bright yellow on yours and mine. Must change as a mature plant. I am hoping it retains the present colors. Diane

is there any list of names to work with ... or how old the cultivar might be ....

Ken, The plant was in my yard for 15 years. It was one of those I had gotten from George Weitz's garden after he passed away. I looked at Hosta Library. Queen Josephine has similar colors but I see ripples in the leaves. Those are mature plants pictured so who knows what will happen in time as mine grow. Something for me to watch - purple flowers on QJ and Decorata vs white on SS. I do appreciate all the suggestions, gives me some direction. Just sent my pictures to a member of our garden club who knows hostas well. Maybe will have input also.

Yellow Splash Rim or Neat Splash Rim

Looks like mine Yellow Splash Rim.

Also it can have stolones.

Neat Splash Rim……in the database says in one part green leaf with yellow margin, in another spot it says white margin……so perhaps it does change color. Yellow splash rim is also listed with white margin and yellow margin. Both plants are old, 1986. Both plants have purple flowers. Decorata was probably the first hosta brought to US about 1875 by Thomas Hogg, per database. It was siad to have been bought by a street vendor. It also has purple flowers. Most notable however, is the leaves are described as dull and blunt tipped. I don’t think either of those descriptors fit your hosta. Good luck with the ID!
