I have my washlet for almost three years and no problem at all with mold, mildew or other unpleasant stuff. Mine is essentially self cleaning. It is the one with E water and an air filter.

I have a Panasonic Whisper fan that turns on automatically when ambient humidity is at a certain level so my bathroom is quite dry. I haven’t read anything regarding those kinds of issues with the Toto washlet. I wouldn’t base my decision on a rental with poorly informed maintenance crew. I love my washlet

I know they have them in Japan hotels and such but I wouldn’t expect a poorly trained janitorial staff to not abuse them somehow in the US and who knows what is going on with other renters. 🤷‍♀️😂😂🤷‍♀️

My washlet is one of the best parts of my remodel along with the large walk in shower with bench. No need to hoard toilet paper if there is another shortage 😂😂😏
