I don’t think you have an actual Aloe vera, but it is an Aloe. Couldn’t tell you what species.

Crispy leaves could be a sign of not enough water. If I could make a suggestion give it a good drink and then repot in a mix that is amended with 50% perlite or pumice. The mix it’s in now doesn’t look fast draining. Even when the bagged soil says it’s for succulents it usually needs some help with drainage. It’ll make you life easier when the mix drains faster🙂. The pot should have drainage holes also.

When you do repot watering once a week should be fine or once the soil is thoroughly dry.

Edit: I was just thinking that as a succulent ages the bottom leaves will be absorbed and dry out. Succulents are really good at recycling moisture and nutrients, out with the old in with the new🙂. So this could be what’s happening to yours, but tbh the leaves look a little dehydrated/flat and there’s not that many leaves on your plant. I do like my Aloes plump and juicy.

I believe you are wattering it too much! try 1/4 glass every 5 days

Don’t water on a schedule. Use a chopstick or wooden dowel stuck deep into the soil and water if it comes out dry. That pot looks pretty deep and you could have water perched several inches deep.

That looks somewhat similar to Aloe marlothii or aculeate, something "spiky" like that. I have a couple of those Aloes and have some problems with the lower leaves drying, but not nearly as pronounced as yours. I keep my aloes in clay pots, in a soil/pumice blend that is about 50/50, and I barely water them once a week -- and I am in hot, sunny Florida. I think you may be watering too often.....but I suspect there could be a root problem.

If it were mine, I might remove it from the pot and see what is going on under the soil. That's not nearly as traumatic as people often think, and you might find that the bottom soil is soggy.....or that the whole mix has dried out.
