LVP flooring on main floor?

We currently have engineered hardwood floors that we absolutely despise (the previous owners installed them). They don’t look good, they have fake hand scraping which makes it super uncomfortable to walk on, and they are not durable. When the time comes to replace them, I’m not sure that we would choose to do engineered hardwoods again. We have little kids and they just take such a beating. Our basement has beautiful LVP floors. We are considering doing LVP on the main floor when we rip out the engineered hardwood. Anyone here use LVP on their main floors (outside of humid, beach areas) Does it negatively affect resale value?

Depends on your market/area/house. In our neighborhood/price range/house age, it would be out of place anywhere other than a finished basement and very much negatively affect the value if put in as the primary flooring, especially for appraisal. In other areas around here, it's right at home in the entire house and is getting put in a lot.

On the other hand, right now you could sell a cardboard box anywhere here in a hot minute for over list price with 10 offers to pick from, so it may also depend on how far out you're looking and if this market continues for a while....

Is your house in the million dollar range? If so, get hardwood.

If your home is in the below 500 k range, in a young family neighborhood, a quality, well installed LVP would be fine.

As per the [C]iscokid, totally dependent on your area.

We just bought and homes we considered, which had lvp, sold within a few days of listing in the US$1.4-US$1.5 range. Just had to re-look at the listing of ours. All hardwood!
