I vaguely remember this happening when mine were first planted; I think I was overwatering them, so I cut way back on the water and made sure to get the water only at the base of the plant, not on the leaves. Mine were fine later in the season, hope all goes well for you!

Thank you! We planted these in the fall, a few didn't make it back in a different location so we replaced them a few weeks ago and they look good. Here is a picture. I'm zone 6b.

That's how mine look when they don't get enough water relative to the amount of light. With more watering they fill right out.

frankly ... you planted in fall .. this is the first growing season .. and it basically looks like a perennial that is in its creep year .. its probably growing the root mass it needs for that third year leap ... any one care to provide the full cliche???

what they all said about proper water.. take a hand trowel.. and dig a couple 3 to 6 inches holes near various plants.. AND FIND OUT ABOUT MOISTURE AT ROOT DEPTH ... and then water according to what you discover ...

ZONE IS SIMPLY LOW TEMP AT ONE MOMENT IN TIME IN THE DEAD OF WINTER ... oops ... really adds nothing for us to work with ... plz add big city name to each post ... so we have a flavor of the whole year .. e.g. summer ...

also.. what is you base soil type ...

the winter failure ... who knows ... late season stock.. improperly planted ... improperly watered late into fall ... something bad in winter ... most likely is not related to what you are seeing here ...

All I can say about Rozanne is that it's wonderful plant in that it blooms here from July 1st until Frost. However, I have six different kinds of perennial geraniums, and this is the most finicky one by far. I wouldn't invest a lot in them until you get a good feel for the location they like best.
