This is a twin, but the concept follows:

I like having the extra pillow for leaning, anyways ... so not a case where you have to find a spot for the extra pillows in order to use the bed (the black pillow is the only decorative pillow here). For more height (cover more headboard), you can use flanged shams or euro pillows (the square ones); for more visible headboard, use normal sleeping pillows in shams with small or no flange. The white pillow in the picture is a slightly firmer than usual pillow in a sham with a narrow flange.

I would need to know the bedding you are using and see the bed in the space where it is going all of this is just guessing with no context.
