Don't clip it, just make it curved.

Mine is curved….. I think curved looks more current than the angled 80s look.

FWIW I like the look of your current counters. :) For the shape, you should choose what you like and what suits your family better. Personally, I’m not a fan of rounded corners so I’d rather keep it the way you have it today or have it at 90degrees if there’s room for that.

Thanks everyone! I hadn't considered the possibility of curving it. Now I have a whole new set of photos to scroll through to see if I like that. I'm glad a couple of you are OK with the 45 degree angle, too.

Jennifer - FWIW, I kind of like them too! But they're peeling in a couple of spots and causing water damage, so their time has come.

HU - The cabinets will be painted to bring them up to the current century. They're actually in great shape.

I think I would square it off with a 1" radius on the corner. Everyone wil get used to the new profile as long as the walkway is not too tight. Otherwise, I would prefer clipped rather than rounded.

I vote for keeping the angle. I think it’ll look nice in quartz. As far as getting used to a new layout and bumping into it - I think the kids will suffer the most. They’re shorter than adults and I foresee a few more bumped heads. Just an FYI - I’ve never gotten used to whacking my hip on my squared off island and would love to take a sledgehammer to it.

I don't see why they can't fabricate that type of corner? And you can make it even better by using, say, half-bullnose or something with a curved edging to it.

Turning that corner to a curve is also a great option that others have suggested.
