Deformed flower tip, normal?

Last year I tossed 2 veronica plants because a few coneflowers had aster yellows disease and I thought 2 of my speedwell might of had because a couple of flower buds that had bloomed had a split in them right at the tip making 2 points. I just picked up 2 more and didn't notice until I got home that one of them had a flower that split at the tip. Can someone with veronica tell me is this normal?

There is a crested form of Veronica. That could account for the split tip. But it is not a very common variety.

Iv tryed but can't figure out how. One of the spike splits into a y with 2 pointed tips instead of one. The plant looks good other flower spikes look good it just splits at the very end of a flower about a half inch from the tip.

Yes that is normal for that variety...Can’t for the life of me remember the name sorry.

I saw that one online but its not the same. I have Purpliciouse now and the ones I tossed were moody blues series. Well if its normal I guess I reacted to quick by throwing the other 2 out last year. I was so upset I was throwing anything out that looked abnormal. Now I feel guilty I ripped those poor little things up. I really liked those plant they were so dependable and long blooming.

Veronica 'Sunny Border Blue' gets split tips and it is completely normal.

yep, and that's why I stopped planting them. I don't care for the look and it happened frequently. I thought it a stroke of entrepreneurial chutzpa when they 'standardized' the characteristic and marketed it as a 'new plant.' At least you know what you're buying instead of it showing up uninvited!
