Need help with color for dining room chairs

We will be moving the custom made dining room table shown in these pictures to the dining room shown. We like the chairs and will have them recovered. They have already been painted once, and our refinisher says they can't be stained and must be painted. We need thoughts on what color to paint the chairs.

I am pushing this up so that other houzzers will comment.
Is the painting in the DR yours or the previous owner's?

Yes - unless that is your art you need to find a large, fabulous piece. That may dictate your wall color and color for your chairs as well. Show us some pictures of what you will be putting there. It's going to be great - love the built in.

I'm assuming the last picture is the new dining room? I like the way the beiges, blues and greens of the painting in the last picture work in that room. What about painting your chairs something lke the color of the upholstery from the 4th picture and getting the upholstery done in a large pattern (maybe trellis) in shades of beige, soft blue and soft green.

A fabric like this drapery fabric would work nicely as upholstery fabric in your new dining room, with light beige painted chairs and your nice table.

How about a glossy black or midnight blue for the chairs, with gold coloured upholstery?

Will you be keeping the light fixture and tile in the new dining room? If so, I think they give the room a rather light, casual, modern feel. The legs of your table go a different direction. What style will you be looking for in this new dining room?

The blue painting is the current painting in the new dining room and is now hanging in the space. There is also a fantastic large sculpture in the right corner. Black chairs are too heavy for the room and the rest of the adjoining space. The light fixture is new and yes we will be keeping the tile. We just really want to use the dining room table with the brass legs if possible

Yes, I thought the blue painting was with the house as it was previously or maybe how it was staged for sale. I agree that although black chairs would look nice with the brass table legs, that look is too heavy for this room and I like the light fixture and tile very much (glad you're keeping them). I think you should defininitely use your table and it might work fine with the legs as they are. So, I do like the idea of colors working with the colors of that painting (maybe you can get a similar painting when you move in). So, maybe move forward with a casual look with cool colors and see how it all comes together. If you end up feeling that the table legs are fighting with your new look, you could always consider having those painted silver or replaced with different legs. So, I still think light beige paint and something like the drapery fabric above for upholstery. I see that room with blues, sage greens, more beiges and cool toned light browns.

How about a darker brown for your chairs. Similar to the buffet.

Love that photo that Ann found. You can mix different metals, no problem.

What if you painted the chairs the light color in the floor tile, and found seat fabric that incorporated some multiple metal threads--gold, silver and even copper to reflect the table color?

I think the idea of metal threads in the fabric is wonderful and original.Table top is great as is the new room. I am not sure where the room is located but I get a tropical vibe. Paint the chairs and the built in a coral color and then chose the fabric and artwork accordingly.
